Tips for Cooking in Your RV Oven

Using your RV oven should be easy and convenient, and not a chore. We know that a RV oven is smaller than your standard oven at home, thus there are some modifications to bring for your RV cooking.

Here are some tips for cooking in a RV oven.

Pan Size

Make sure you have the right size for cookie sheets and baking dishes. You also want to ensure there is some space around the pan on each side in the oven. A RV oven requires a 10 x 15 cookie sheet and 9 x 13 baking dish.

Use a Baking Stone

By putting a baking or pizza stone on the metal plate over the heating element in your oven, it will help prevent burning your food on the bottom and ensure that it cooks thoroughly. The stone acts as an insulator against the direct flame and distributes the heat.

Use an Oven-Safe Thermometer

Purchasing an oven-safe thermometer will give you an accurate reading of the temperature and help with cooking times.

Preheat your Oven

Each oven is different. The same goes for your RV oven. It might indicate a temperature of 350, but heats like 400. Once you know well your oven, you can set the temperature to match the recipe you want to cook. Preheating will help with cooking times and avoid burned food.

Rotate the Food

Your food is not cooking evenly? Rotate your pan or baking dis halfway through cooking. It will help with the food being cooked evenly.
